Famous last words

This sweet cesspool called life
Leaves many soulless
Broken inside
With the mantra
"Better to burn out than fade away".

People plot and plod
Until age makes one succumb
Often still in denial, even surprised by
The inevitable, preordained pact
To which we are all contracted.

Born to die
Yet we are told to
Bear the agony
So let’s have no sadness - no furrowed brow
There’s nothing new in dying now.

The good news is
We are about to make our greatest adventure yet
Into joy, unutterable bliss, or oblivion
He's down for the count
Not getting up.

Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow!
