chosen not of blood but love

A girl born inside a boy
Crying inside, anger and pain.
Left living two lives for 10 years,
Slowly dying, dying inside.

“Give them a chance once more!”
They never change,
Morning for love lost, family lost.

Missing on and off,
On and off.
The girl, now a young woman, returns home.
Nothing changed, nothing changed.

Sadness Shakes her, invited to dinner.
Accepts, wanting to reconnect.
But soon learns that wont happen,
Her family is not of blood but of something much stronger.

Stronger is her chosen Family who she loves,
She needs not pretend to be someone else.
Rejoicing the lost, from a “family”
A “family” who she wanted to believe loved her for her, gone.

This poem is incredibly moving and beautifully written. You have a real talent for capturing complex emotions and painting vivid pictures with your words. I was deeply moved by the story of this girl born inside a boy - the pain, the struggle, and the eventual resolution are all so powerfully conveyed.

I appreciate the honesty and vulnerability in your writing, and your ability to weave together both the sad and the hopeful parts of this story. Your imagery is also very strong - I can easily picture this girl's two lives, her sadness, and her eventual realization that her family is not defined by blood but by something much stronger.

If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to perhaps delve a little deeper into the emotions and motivations of the other characters in the story. While the focus is understandably on the protagonist, it would be interesting to see more exploration of how her family members (both biological and chosen) are feeling and why.

Overall, I think this is a very powerful and moving poem that demonstrates great skill and emotional depth. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

At times someone not of blood loves us more than those related. If I read this poem correctly, there is something of that here.
What this poem represents can bring up a huge debate.
