Take down in front of City Hall.
Doug Blair 1951 (London)
Winter time
February skate rink.
Scraping noises, your first clue.
Music by Nat King Cole.
Couple of hockey keeners
Skipping around more
Vulnerable ones.
Showing off backwards.
Song took Centre Stage.
“You Always Hurt
The One You Love.”
Skirmish in northeast
Corner of the open space.
Twenty-something kid.
Tattoos on both neck sides.
Eagle and Cobra arching.
Low profile drugs un-pocketed.
Two somewhat older men.
Hugging him.
Clicking on cuffs.
Waving to the unmarked
Cruiser. Into back seat.
Pushing head down.
Kid left one sneaker
Abandoned in the ice.
Spilled Pepsi paper cup, pocket knife.
Cops gave it no thought.
Score: good guys one.
Young punk, shithead, less than zero.
One four year old Lad watched
All of it, imitating the wrestling, falls
And curses.
Mother was chatting at
A bench, oblivious.
