midnight

the nightmares always cloud my midnights
i wake up every day, if i could, asleep i'd stay
helpless in the thought of my frivolous plights
blocking off the bay, trees i cut down litter the way

i lose myself in meager memories
no matter how well my flames scorch the vines,
they creep in ever from the periphery
sometimes i forget this life is mine
