Within the Smog

I am marching
Through the gates
Filled with death
Filled with hate

I see a bird
Filled with freedom
Filled with love

And I stare
At the sign
Filled with deception
Filled with lies

It says
Arbeit Mavht Frei
It says
Work will make one free

And I gaze
At the sun
Covered in mist
Or smoke from guns

And the guard
Walks down the line
He speaks “ You will be treated fine”

They believe him
Trust his lies
But I see evil
In his eyes

And my mother
Grabs my hand
She whispers, “ We will stop this evil plan.”

I cry
“ How will we,
We are pawns
In this atrocity.”

She answers
“ We will stay strong
Never break the bond”

And the bird
It still flies
Through the dark
And hazy sky

And the smoke
Hides the suns gold
Won’t let the
Mystery unfold

Smoke from bodies
Burned to a crisp
I don’t want to die
Not like this

And the sun slowly sets
Over the people
Waiting for death

Amongst the mist
And the fog
Try to hide what they've done wrong
Hidden deep within the smog
