The game of depression

Depression isn't a game
It's not something we can just throw away
People think depression is just being sad
But its not, it's the feeling of regret, the feeling of sorrow
It’s constantly wondering if you’re going to make it till tomorrow

It’s waking up in the morning but not wanting to leave the bed
It's the feeling of constantly wishing you were dead
It's the hardest fight a person will have to concur
It’s zoning out and letting your mind wander
Its feeling tired even though you just slept ten hours

You wake up and still feel the same constant pain
You get up brush your teeth and put a smile on anyway
Because you don’t want people knowing what's going on in your brain
But why would they care you always say your okay
Depression cannot be thrown away

Depression is being scared to live the next day
Or wondering why your mind was made this way
It’s rethinking every bad decision you made
Just to break yourself down in new ways
Depression is a battle that you are strong enough to win
Don't stop fighting, don't let it win.

About this poem

I struggled with depression for a really long time. I found that writing out how I felt helped me and could possibly help other as well.
