Saltless Sea

Ryan McFarland 1987 (Massachusetts)

January 23

Saltless Sea

What it is, I wish to see.
What it is, I long to be.

But here I am, floating in this saltless sea.

What it was, I've already seen.
What it was, I used to be.

But here I am sinking in this saltless sea.

Into its depths, under its waves
Unfathomable breadths, the darkness craves.

But here I am, gone forever in this saltless sea.

About this poem

This poem was inspired by the machinations of narcissists and gaslighting of people in relationships.
