Only enough room for you

From telling me “No weapon formed against me shall prosper”
To your words becoming the weapon
To your actions becoming the weapon
It became more prominent more clear
You were still feeding off my fears
And giving me more
Not just for me myself
But for them

I don’t have time
I don’t have time to grieve
I don’t have time to let it sink in
But somehow I have time to pick up the pieces and put them back together again
And again

Emotions overstimulating my mind
Fight on both sides
I need you
No I don’t
Free yourself
still have hope
I’m just tired
So so tired

Empty apology’s because you did nothing wrong
It was all my fault It was me all along
When will you see past yourself
It’s always about you
What YOU need
What YOU have to do
What YOU don’t have
What YOU are trying to do

It all comes down to
You
You
You
So I’m done
Because the weapon has made its final hit
I’m pushed back no longer defending against it
Just know I won’t be there when you regret it

About this poem

This poem is a personal one. It’s from experience in an unhealthy child and parental relationship. It’s about finally figuring out that you are not the problem. It’s not a child’s place to fix a relationship with a parental figure. Finally it’s about giving up on trying to fix what’s broken.
