Beyond Heartache

Why did you have to go away
I still miss you, your sweetness, your sway
You ruined everything, it's true
But we are both to blame, me and you

The chance for a new world, now spoiled
Thoughts and actions, both were foiled
Life is harsh, it's true we know
But excuses are no longer an option, it's time to let go

Why did it have to go this way
Even though we were apart, it still pains
Suffering is a part of life, it's true
But love, peace, and joy, can still come to you

Money can't buy happiness, it's true
But love, peace and joy, can be shared by me and you
As painful as it is, I must move on
Not caring if I try others along

Life encompasses more than hate
Selfishness and jealousy, let's not equate
Forgiveness is a power, not given to all
But that doesn't mean we can't stand tall.

I am a person who values creativity and meaning. Poetry has always been of interest to me, as I was exposed to works such as The Divine Comedy in school. I have come to appreciate poetry as a powerful tool for storytelling in a concise format, making it more compelling than a mere summary. more…
