"Street Smart"

Jossa Macascas 1987 (General Santos City)

"Street Smart"

A Waken cat in the street,
Like a black dog that goes freak.
They are the kids in smokey late night,
A wild weed striving to survive.

Uneducated nor learned in school,
For them and who are they,
Able to read and write,
Is enough to beat life's fight everyday.

Having the experience and knowledge,
Necessity to deal with potential difficulties,
Or dangers of life in urban environment,
I really saluted this kind of confident in self.

A street where their lives sharpen,
Is their teachers where they've learned,
Smart street is what others calling,
Some kind of knowledge schools not haven.

Success is not always from academic learning,
A no read, no write man has a story which is inspiring,
From rags to riches,
From nothing, something, until everything.

Dreaming for success deals a solid determination,
Like a street smart who strengthened by puberty,
and sometimes an evil tempting to test survivors' dignity.
Here comes the street smart not to let it happen that way.

About this poem

A poem is an inspiration for everyone to build self esteem especially who suffered from not believing their self potentials and used to stay on that belief. We are all wanting for success but the problem is with in as having negativity in mind set which is not true. A poem Street Smart will serve as inspiration for those who believe and wait for the process, for success is not suddenly to happen, it takes time and determination.
