Wine and Oil

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

He who loves pleasure will become poor;
These are the words of the Sovereign Lord.
For Him, to do what is just and right,
Is more acceptable than sacrifice!

The plans of the diligent lead to profit.
The Lord approves; He will not stop it.
To go in haste --- to poverty leads.
Who among you, from this is freed?

The fastest now --- is quickly past.
The place he gained; it did not last.
Whoever loves beer and gasoline,
Will never have the riches he dreamed!
