Meshach facing fire.

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Never thought in
Any number of years
That we would face exile.
Babylonians painful pushed.
The big Kingdom was
Heart stopping.
Huge walls.
Terrifying military forces.
And all sumptuous in
The Royal Court.
Soon in eunuchs’
Special services.
They realized that I and
The other two
Had special intelligence
Maths, languages.
Meanwhile, our mentor
Daniel was making
Great waves at the Palace..
Dreams interpreted
King very much in favour.
Satraps and advisors
Offended, jealous.
And looking for a plan.
Oh king you are worthy
Of all obeisance and worship
Sound the cornets
And require ALL, yes all to
Fall down  before your fashioned
Image to pray.
That ‘s when things got hot.
Shadrach was quick to holler NO WAY.
Stupid reverence and costly.
Furnace heated sevenfold.
Us three pitched in.
Well you fill in the blanks.
But here I am spilling the story
For you.
Miracle intervening.
Only our hand constraints burned.
