Out of the Hall

Tomin Mooney 1972 (Cochin)

It was just a show …a  show
Like the great bard said once:
‘All life is nothing but a stage
..and all Men and Women mere actors’
We were just playing our roles

Now that the show is over
And as we troop out through half lit aisles
Stumbling out into the bright afternoon sunlight outside
Dazed ..half amazed… fazed,,
Clutching and letting go of the fragments
Of the fast-fading dreams left behind
Fading ,receding in the hall behind

A honk of a car
The hurried brush of a quick  stranger’s shoulder
A wisp of golden sunlight
Shimmering off a window shoppers’ hair
It was Life  one- two-three  back again.
