Scarlet Skies and Burnt Grass

I lie on the grass,
In the lawn of my broken heart,
The sky is scarlet,
Like blood in the water,
I put my head down and feel the grass,
It’s all burnt as I feel it,
Still there I lie, soaking it all in.

There she sits all happy on the porch,
With no regard for the damage.
She smiles looking at me,
I smile back with all my strength.
The burnt grass all crisp with hate,
None that she can see past my smile,
Still there I lie, soaking it all in.
