Her Dream

The sun was setting on the land,
As she walked the dirt path hand in hand.
With her love, her heart did soar,
Their future bright, forever more.

But fate can be a fickle thing,
And life can change on a single wing.
A car crash, a phone call, a tear,
And all their dreams, forever seared.

She wandered through the days alone,
Her heart aching, a constant moan.
But as time passed, she found her strength,
To pick herself up, to go to length.

She built a life, new and true,
With friends, with work, and passions new.
And though her love was gone, she knew,
That in her heart, it still grew.

And as she stood, on the dirt path once more,
The sun setting, as it was before.
She whispered to the wind, to the past,
"I'll love you always, forever, steadfast."
