Christmas in Kintbury

On Christmas Eve we can believe
If only for a while
That Santa brings a heart that sings
To see the children smile

We look above with hope and love
Despite the year we've had
We listen hard and play the card
"We really weren't that bad"

On Christmas Day we rise and say
That Santa's come and gone
And through the pines we look for signs
Of reindeer on the lawn

Then share a time with food and rhyme
And together celebrate
That once a year we feel the cheer
And abolish greed and hate

On Boxing Day we rest and play
Just one more day to shine
With hearts that glow, remember so
The day we had was fine

And reaching out, remove the doubt
Humanity can thrive
For once a year we hold it dear
That love is still alive.
