Solitude

Jenn Tenn 1967 (New York)

Living alone seems easier than getting along with another.
Emptiness fills your heart,
It takes little courage to live alone.
Yes! You can do as you please,
When you live alone.
You're responsible for just you.
Feelings of freedom seem abundant,
And yet just out of reach.
When you live with someone,
You're now responsible for each other.
And freedom abounds for the burden of life's decisions is shared.
