The waves keep hitting

Deep breaths fill my lungs with cold air
not in a frigid way
but a way that is mostly mundane

makes my heart fill with despair
so strong it pulls me in like a riptide
feeling all alone with nobody by my side

i feel so vulnerable and bare
nobody seems to care
the emotions are flooding
i start to hear a thudding

it crashes

silence

it’s so bitter sweet
i know it’s over
but it will repeat

it comes in waves
makes me feel like i’m in a grave
will it get better
i don’t want to write one of those letters

the stronger and stronger it gets
the more i’m aware i’m gonna get hit

the waves keep hitting

instead of making it  seem like i misbehaved
i decided to ride the wave

About this poem
