THE PAST

Wesley Van Niekerk 2003 (Johannesburg)

It's on early mornings like this that the past starts haunting me again and starts walking up and down the corridors of my soul

It becomes so unbearable that I would rather sell my soul to the devil!

Yes, yesterday is gone ... but so its so  hard when the chains around my neck simply refuse to fall off... it feels like a life sentence, which will stay with me for the remainder  of my days!

The option of escaping is a foolish  idea , because the doors of this "prison" is my own face

So with my eyes fixed on the moon ,  I yet again  realized  that the past is strangling me once again . The past is carved in stone, something I will die with one day. I want to go back and rewrite the path of my existence, to prevent the past from one day causing me to perish from within. But the reality is that I have only myself to blame for my past choices...

Past, you inhuman parasite that feeds on me!
