The Kraken

A black kind of creature dragging ships down.
A blot on creation continues to ravage.
The word smiths of ages agree on this point,
Its destructive potential does not disappoint.

From Portsmouth Cove to Plymouth Cape,
The ghost-mire plague did seek to waste.
The Norway fjords, the North Sea trade,
Disrupted with great expedience.

This dark wraith-doom pulled dreadnoughts down
Into the very depths of hell.
This serpent slime stretched out to Smite
The souls of men in faithless ships.

So, listen now, all ye who dream,
All ye who wish to rule the sea.
And ponder long and ponder hard
On how the Kraken rules the sea.

About this poem

Inspired by a mythical creature, this poem seeks to instill an understanding of humanity's place in the hierarchy of what we master, and what we fear.
