Hero once known

You were my hero for I had no other,
I was a canvas and you the paint.
To woe and sadness you were the cure,
I worshiped you just like a saint.

You were my hero in sad times,
My light when I was lost in the dark.
When reason didn’t have it’s rhymes ,
To my fire you were the spark .

You were my hero when I was lost,
Guiding me back to cause and course.
No care but me no care for cost,
My drive for life, you at the source.

You were my hero when I grew up,
Influenced from you, yet you from booze.
Rarely seen with an empty cup,
Slowly my hero, I seemed to lose.

You were my hero now just a lesson,
On how addiction destroys it all.
Once bringing us joy now brings depression,
Seems so far my hero did fall.

You were my hero who fell so far,
Indulging, stopping all of your hurting.
Earth never closer to any star,
You needed help, I was so certain.

You were my hero, now reversed I hope,
Mistakes I’ve made, I worry you’ll make.
In problems you drown, so grab my rope,
Your heart I wish my advice you’d take.

You were my hero, fore I had no other,
You were my idol, my own Aristotle.
Once was known as your little brother,
But love for me, replaced by a bottle.
