Gravity

Gravity

A crescent moon hangs high in the sky
and mocks me while awake I lie
commanding emotions along with the oceans
now adrift on a raging sea am I.

Bobbing and weaving, flooded and flush
my anchor faulty from years of rust
unable to do what I know I must
I long to wash upon your shore.
The crescent moon wanes as I beg for more.

On Earth I’d regard you from a safe distance
until sudden tides turned leaving no more resistance.
Now I’d traverse galaxies to find my binary star
light years away or on whatever astral plane you are.

There, where gravity meets misery
two universes will collide
like a cosmic connection at the full intersection
of the constellations that are your eyes.

Unable to resist your celestial power
I’ll become like a notch on Orion’s belt
for there’s no going back to Zero hour
Before the thrill of weightless ecstasy was felt.
