BONNIE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE ONCE UPON A TIME THERE
Bonnie is always in my mind
Ever in my consciousness
A flash back just came earlier in earnest
After a frantic day at work
Whilst driving back home tired
Gnawing in my heart was a scene from our past mire
Could be before or after you two had met
It was December 2016 , I suspect
Possibly it was 15 December 2016
Most likely or so do I think
December time in North Greenwich
Would have been dismal , cold and crinch
I cannot now recall if the sky was dark too and overcast
But my emotions were turbulent and downcast
And surely no children would have been
Playing out in the precarious cold shivering
Were you there with us?
Yes, you reminded me thus
Think Jahnavi had just come from Riga?
On her Christmas break from there
I was following the ambulance with Bonnie
Knocked out in there alone with you was she
In front of me heading to the hospital
The ambulance siren still ringing in my ear
Whilst I was driven behind in the police car
Bonnie landed up at QE hospital in Intensive Care
And she was deeply unconscious in there
With an overdose colossus
Can’t now recall what she had in her
Lithium , Propranolol and whatever else was
But she was out for a few days
She had to be nurtured all the way
I had taken few photos in the Intensive Care
With ventilation tubes in throat down her
As a memento to her mother
Who often would say
I made up stories to dither
And to be away from her
But I had never yet shown
Those photographs to her ever
Then only a few days after that
I took a cute photo of Noah in her flat
I will send you later
What a tormenting time it was
Like many a time before and after
Now Bonnie has gone for ever
Didn’t even give us any chance to follow her
In an ambulance or another
All I could do in the end
Was beckoned by her
In the slow motion black hearse
