Mortal Man

Patrick Chasteen 1972 (Danville)

                       “ Mortal Man “

You know girl I’m no artist
That’s not one of my hobbies
I’m not good at conversations
Especially your kind
You’ll just have to understand
When I say I don’t know

Well I’m just a mortal man
I’ve been living in quicksand
Trying to keep my head up
From going down

Nobody’s ever helped me
Nobody ever will
But that’s ok
I’m just a mortal man

I know you’ve got your dreams girl
Cause I’ve got mine
And just like you
It’s been dreams I’ve been living on
But the one fine line I see
Is the difference in you and me
Now and then I touch on reality

Well I’m just a mortal man
I’ve been living in quicksand
Trying to keep my head up
From going down

Nobody’s ever helped me
Nobody ever will
But that’s ok
I’m just a mortal man.
