Solitude
Coco Wanli 1997 (Lagos)
Solitude
Empty space, just me,
I look ahead, no hope.
Empty days, prowling thoughts,
I look ahead, forlorn future.
Locked in a web of despair,
Harangued by doubts and unbelief.
A non-fleeting feeling of void,
A life within solitude
Alone, drifting in the humid darkness,
Enveloped by fear and distress,
I sought the solitude,
The comfort and embrace of silence.
Walls without borders, a formless void, space unencumbered,
An enclosure with no closure, surreal spectacle,
Bars of steel, boarded up.
Alas I found a heaven, alas I found a haven, or so I thought.
What to do when the embrace is engulfing, stifling and hard?
When formless walls come at me,
Pinned at all angles, dangling at the edge,
An unfettered fear pounding at me
Awashed with nectars of pain, orgasmic pain,
No closure, no end, an unwavering seismic batter,
Ramming all thoughts, an end to me, is this how it ends?
Alas I cry out, Save me.
