Cover is Gone

For many years of my life I blindly
Thought I found the one person to
Build me up, but instead you found
Different ways to tear me down and
Hide me from the world.

You saw how my star shined
Brightly and you thought that is
What you also wanted but then my
Light showed you things that you
Didn’t want to see in yourself.

So you decided to drown me instead.
So you decided to try and break me.
So you casted nothing but darkness
Slowly covering up my light.

Then the time came and I realized
Who I became is not who I truly am
Or want to be.
I stated to wake up from the darkness
That you crept into my life.
The blinders that were placed over
My eyes it started to break and I
Finally saw the truth of how we became.

I took that step to regain my strength that
You diminished so much.
I took a look and realized that there was
Nothing but toxicity in our life and towards each other.

At one point in time I thought I needed you to always
Be in my life, but now I am truly awake and getting
My brightness back.

You lost the chance to see up close how I am going to change the world.
My brightness is going to shine in this world and all the darkness will fade away into nothingness.
