Sleep

Hailey Padgett 1996 (Georgia)

I wish for sleep to take hold like a sunflower craves the sun.
Can I really be awake when my mind is so tired.
Am I really a human or are we aliens?
The sandman is creeping up on me but he takes forever like a pill going down my throat. Can I sleep the pain away of my swelling feet or am I doomed to have dreadful dreams of broken glass and butterflies.
Sleep is good but u are better if only I was in ur arms and u in mine.

About this poem
