ONCE UPON A TIME

Ephraim Mmesoma 2000 (Imo State)

Once upon a time,  when i was young
When i wasn't worried about getting it all wrong
When all i cared about was growing out my hair
When my utmost concern was what i would get for christmas
When no responsibility was heaped on me.

Once upon a time,  i was enthusiastic
I was carefree and unapologetic
I always picked fights and won
I was called fat and it bothered me
I knew i could never fail.

Now i fail and I'm told its life i need more effort
People are watching me and they expect a lot
Everyday i try not to be a disappointment
I'm not allowed to be carefree anymore
I try to be myself but they want more.

Once upon a time means a story to tell
A tale to share, when i had little worries
When i while away time with my hobbies
Once upon a time i was a princess without responsibility
Now I'm a Queen i should portray reliability.
