Look Through my eyes

Sylvia Reyes 1965 (San Francisco)

Alone and afraid with no
We're to go.
My stomach's shrinking and Sticking  to my back, I've not eaten in over  a week.
That smell? Eewwe could it be me, I've not washed in? God only knows.
I ask them for help, yet they turn a blind eye.
Don't they all know,  I'm just a kid with no where to go.
Won't some one listen, I'm screaming please help me!!.
I'll make them hear me
I'LL TAKE MY OWN LIFE.
Then they will listen, miss me and wish they had listened.
Won't you please listen, we're not so bad

About this poem

I have so many street kids who live this poem day in and day out. And people just turn and walk away. Even Thier own parents . Take the time and say hi. You may be surprised .
