I wish I could crush the world

Udegbunam Arinze 1998 (Port harcourt)

I wish I could crush the world with
A grip and let my heart decide on
What to do
Is my heart a fiery ball of fire or a
Lighted candle
I look the world in the eye and
Shriek in anger

Memories  pressed together by the
Rustiness of age
Look! a house burning with
Laughter, lighted by faces
Perfumed with love
I knock at the wooden door in
Search of a second of shelter
Yet I'm denied passage

My shadows spit on me in
Repulsion
Having nothing to loose I look the
World in the face
Wishing I could hold the world
With a strong grip
Or maybe smash the world into
Smithereens
