Hope and survival

Celestine kenechukwu Onah 2002 (Ovoko, Nsukka, Enugu state)

At the end of the tunnel,
Obika beheld the funnel.
A stand between the dim,
The beam of smile on the grim.

On the dark edge, near the very end
He stood agape, uttering fiend,
The breeze that blew his hopes;
The rope that held his slop.

The tiger in company with the tigress
Was against his escape on the express.
They laid, doggedly, at his escape root;
Formidable creatures, bundle rout.

Taking the bull by the horn, he took the hue.
And in click, turned them to ewe;
Accepting reality, with base on brevity.
And then, the light on integrity.

Nothing happened until he took a step,
The step you should make to rep.
It’s the survival of the fittest,
The bang of the strongest.
