Her Eyes

I stared into her eyes
And I see a vast piece of land
Desserted and Empty
Filled with brown sand and dust
And she stared back at me
Wondering what she saw
Did she see the longing
And affection I have for her
Or did she see
The darkness that surrounds
The garden of Eden
The dried up trees
And empty oceans
The dead animals and cloudy atmosphere
Did she see cadaver on cadaver
Like a pyramid placed step by step
Did she see my mother
Lying in my arms
With my hands on her face
Did she perhaps see a lonely boy
Screaming for help
Or see the scene
When he brought out his mother's
Breast and tried to suck what was left there
Did she see the boy in tears
Wondering why he isn't dead yet
Whatever she saw
I hope she isn't leaving me
