Fluttering Pages

The book flips open, struggling.
The lines blur.
The pages rip from their bindings;
Unable to stay confined,
To the way they were made;
Just like me.

The pages flutter in the wind,
As they try to escape.
Jagged ends, they know;
They can't be the same.
But they don't care;
Just like me.

I don't care.
I want to be free. And fly.

About this poem

This poem speaks of a time in my life when I felt suffocated by the demands and expectations people had from me. It speaks of wanting to tear myself away from being confined to other people's standards and to just be free to be myself.
