THE MASS
Ken Bartlett 1934 (Leominsterr Mass)
Ever so slowly it started to grow. An insidious creature,
hiding behind the nose and not wanting to show any features.
Pressure is placed upon the eyes, bulging them out.
Taking aim it next squeezed the sinus and snout.
Uncontrolled tears run down the face mixing with nasal drain.
Yet, none of this was causing excessive distress or even pain.
From scan to MRI, attempts continue to analyze
how to treat or not the knot sequestered between the eyes.
Opinions were exchanged between surgeons and me.
We concluded the best thing to do is to let it be.
This thing so hideous and apparently benign
will stay where it hides and forever be mine.
