Life with chronic pain

Catrina Fuentes 1981 (United States)

At 25 years old,
I watch people play
with their kids at the park
on a bright sunny day
I’m a little jealous
that I can’t run anymore
I hurt all the time
and stay so sore
I envy those parents
who live without pain
At times my thoughts
drive me insane
The envy turns to anger
and the anger turns to hate
I wonder why it is
that this is my fate
I bring myself back
to where my thoughts belong
I reach out to God
to help me stay strong
Without his strength
I would have given up
I’m thankful that I chose
to drink from his cup.
