From Darkness to Glory

Quintan Voigt 1984 (Durban)

The shadows beckon my soul beyond the light of day
the little voices inside my head has always led me astray
from poor choices to broken hearts
towards an empty bed filled with all my shattered parts

I have always wanted to be a knight and a guiding light
but the devil always wanted to make sure that I would certainly lose that fight
but now I have sharpened my swords and I Have put up my shield
and to the darkness again I will never yield

I have learnt to swim in deep waters and to keep my head high
and I have also learned to dust myself off and keep my feet dry
I have seen the gates of heaven and i have seen the gates of hell
I have seen the lords of darkness cast its terrible spell

but on white horses my angels will now ride
and in golden Armour they will continue fighting by my side
because the children of god will always rise up in his glory
this is how I fought addiction and this is my story.

About this poem
