Faithful Friend with trumpet come
Cry aloud the sins we’ve done
Convict us though it may smart
Flatter not our awful hearts.
Though we’re seeking You daily
Fasting, praying, praise gaily
Sin still lurks within our hearts
Bugle show how black and dark.
Not merely a godly form
Show us where we must reform
Blow trumpet lest we fall short
Living with Satan’s cohort.
Bear us homeward ever up
In Your glory let us sup
Sin revealed, now sin atoned
Bugle fanfare around Your throne.

This poem is based on Isaiah 58:1&2. I have written it to fit the tune of Man of Sorrows.
