A Canvass Of Thoughts

Author Marlanalynn Booher+Tydings 1980 (Pinellas Park Florida)

A canvass of thoughts

The beauty
Of poetry
Is that it paints a picture
Of a poet’s view

Within my thoughts
I paint a picture with words
Embracing expressions I hold within
Re-arranging words into sentences

Like the dawning of a new day
Words flow within
Bringing new light to thought
Capturing a new day within my mentality

Words transform into meaning
Sentences become stanzas
Stanzas become sonnets and haiku’s of expression
As my hands paint a picture with pen upon a pad

A picture of fantasy
Or a view of reality
Comprise a perfect society
A poet’s mind is his artistry

What we vision today
Will it bring some insight for tomorrow?
Will questions that we ask ourselves
Be the answers for years to come

Within
Is where words give birth
A fetus of thoughts and visions
And we as poets nurture those words

But our words are a extension of ourselves
Each noun, verb or adjective is relevant
To our feelings our thought process
The final piece is a literary composition

Within us
Are blank canvasses
Waiting for us to create
A world of words

Our minds
Like a recorder
Transforms thoughts into prose
From prose to poetry

Words designed from a poet’s mind
Captures the essence of expression
Extending a part of us
Expression of one’s heart and soul
