Solitude Speaks

For peace and for loneliness
I’m put to use
Unfortunately for me
The latter gets more views

I’m an excuse
To ease your pain
To be pitted
Yet you have nothing to gain

Face your fears
Instead, you deny
“I’m fine.”
What a lie!

Your heart is weak
However, you claim it’s stone
Even the Bible says it,
“It’s not good for man to be alone”

I’m mostly quiet
So you’re still on your own
My quiet advice ?
Well, leave me alone.

About this poem

This poem is about solitude talking to people who seek refuge in her. She is trying to tell them that being alone and hiding your problems won’t solve anything but no one can hear her. It’s a personification because solitude is abstract.
