One of a Kind

Some people say I’m different
my parents say I’m unique,
not in a mean or bitter way
but nice and sweet.

but sometimes I feel alone
since no one is really like me,
but I remember that I am on a different path
and I have to remember the goals I see.

I am glad to know
that God is always here
and will always stay sincere,
that he will always love me
and keep me as
One of a Kind.

About this poem

This poem is about how I always have goals for myself but I would always get made fun of for speaking “proper” or just wanting to do well in life. As a black girl teen we are expected to be ghetto or just be total failures, so this is a poem for all these girls to keep pushing and succeeding no matter what.

After I play professional basketball I want to be a child psychologist so that teens like me can come to me and I can be like their notebook when they want to free verse. more…
