mirrors
At home we sell broken mirrors
So that those who are in pieces can still find themselves
So our house has become a jigsaw puzzle of human skins that we can’t re-attach
Some souls are left exposed
A garbage yard of human spirits searching for the closest God to follow
Mirrors have turned into temples
Onto them we instill verses that reverse the process of those who have lost themselves
My father says some souls have forgotten how to be whole
They find comfort when they are in pieces
And spend a lifetime trying to break themselves further apart
Their shadows have become suicidal
Their bodies seek to be buried in light
Because there are no mirrors 6feet under
So how else will they find themselves in heaven?
When they cant even recognize their own death
So now the devil is auctioning every element of breath
Just to have a date with the bogeyman
So children could stop hiding from monsters buried in closets
And look at themselves once again in mirrors
About this poem
its about people being able to recognize themselves even upon death. taking view of who they were before they died and how others have forgotten who they were.
