Me more

Me more..

Naked, defenceless and tender, I came to you hoping you would see through it all

You did exactly as I thought, just at your convenience, and I swallowed the bane of the time you took, thinking it’s a pill to love me more

Clouded by your enigma, I swirled in circles, hoping you would cajole me out of  this obscurity
Your silhouette charging towards me, relief spreading through my heart….
only to see you pass right through me, reiterating...you should love me more.

Sitting on a pile of insecurities and uncertainty, I carved a path to find you, leaving all my dubiety behind, to embrace yours, only to ignore the gushing torment of mine.

Had I known, those icy tips would pierce my very bones, sending chills so cold and demeaning what’s mine…. I would have loved me more

Through all the darkness and dubiety, I tried to be another, only to see you condemn that which is not even me

Your love is ether, sweeping me off reality into a dimension, so dangerously celestial, that reality is a question

Walking into the unknown, convinced that it is the only religion, I offered my body and soul, praying you would see the sincerity of it all..

Only to realise, I have lost me far beyond recognition, and time is the only constant. Wishing in that shimmering moment…wish I had loved me more.

About this poem

It’s a poem about change and self acceptance. How one changes in order to be accepted by another only to realise time moves forward and being your own self is what life is all about
