Expiration Date

Krae-Valerie G. Freyra 1987 (Daraga, Albay)

First met you when we were eight (8),
Was twenty-four (24) when you asked to date,
Always said you love me, you were never late,
No way our love we could have an expiration date.

Years went by, memories were made,
We cried, we laughed, with you by my side, I was never afraid,
We dreamed, we planned, were all of these fake?
Oh shit, maybe I should've checked if we have an expiration date?

Seventh (7th) came, we were still in the game,
Or so I thought, that feelings were the same,
You asked for space, in a blink you left,
Swear I thought it was me who caused our expiration date!

Then a little birdie got some news to break,
Oh f*ck, ring, crib and veil, that's why you flaked?
You should have told me, saved me to speculate,
You should have told me the reason for our expiration date.

Now that its all out, this game is all over,
End of questions, self pity, its all over,
Now I know better, no more hate,
Next time, I'll be wiser, I'll ask if love has an expiration date.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I finally found out the truth why the person I loved for seven (7) years left. I was crying and screaming silently when I wrote this.
