Widowed
She was not promised
Never wed
Yet her lover still lie dead
In a coffin
Beneath the snow
Was he real?
She doesnt know
A cold dark room, shes trapped, it reeks
In a bed not left for weeks
Her familys worried
Their heads too hard
So few helped to tend her yard
How could she share this bitter loss
When losing them might be the cost?
Theyll call you crazy, thow you away
Pill you up, put you on display
Claiming youll be better this way
So on lost feelings she coughs and chokes
Stuffing poison down her throat
He tells her its to dull the pain
To make the bad thoughts go away
However, theyre never truly gone
No matter the drug
Nor the constant sleep
Not even after soft lies she keeps
They find their way, they crawl and creep
Claws sunk in, a hurt too deep
Years of lost trust, stress, and pain
In her mind, plays a deadly game
Rusts her future, taints her name
So she hides, under layers of shame
Fondly dream of honey flowers
Laughing, playing on for hours
Had a home, a perchlike throne
Hated nothing, never alone
All that perfect, childlike wonder
Ripped away, broken, torn asunder
Really, how did it all begin?
Became aware around six
Those haunted thoughts
Her bonded twin
Sat behind and watched them win
Taking over with no remorse
New regrets, no settled scores
Struggling, gasping, fighting to breathe
No longer safe here, ready to leave
They left her out there in the cold
Felt no warmth, no hand to hold
Stumbling blindly through the dark
Searching for that long lost spark
Shes getting tired, barely holding on
The nothing seeping, good feelings gone
Its taking over, corrupting her mind
Gotta hurry, no stop, please dont cry
Nows not the time
Youve gotta work
The real world doesnt water hurt
Paste your smile
Do your time
And everything will turn out fine.
About this poem
I wrote this during a really dark time in my life. It made me feel better to make something fun out of all the mess ive been through. Writing my feelings down really helped, this is the product.
