The Escape

Christina Marie Ramos 1983 (new jersey)

The escape does not end when you walk out that door.
The critical moment, the inner struggle, what have I done? now I am crying on the floor.
Immobile, scared, so many fears, thoughts flood my mind.
Am I worthy, there is no hope, what if he is the best I would find?

He speaks down to me, I can never do anything right.
Even when I follow his instruction to the word, still he wants to fight.
Am I crazy? How can he be so hot, then so cold?
I want you, I need you, he is sick of everything about me, it's getting old.

Am I that horrible? To lock me away like a prisoner, I have no freedom.
Do not speak, do not say a f**king word, your lucky to eat, you are scum!
How did it get so bad, the red flags and fear yet I followed you, I am so dumb.
I put my head down, tears streaming down my face.
I finally realized I need to live life my way, my choices, my pace.
