Masks

Happy is the feeling
I want to portray
That is the mask
I will wear today
I will walk around
And fake a smile
Nobody will notice
Its only beguile

Proud is the feeling
I want to portray
That is the mask
I will wear today
I will walk around
With my head held high
Nobody will notice
As I silently cry

Contentment is the feeling
I want to portray
That is the mask
I will wear today
I will blend into the crowd
And walk around
I will not speak
Or make a sound

Love is the feeling
I want to portray
That is the mask
I will wear today
I will pretend
That I have love for me
I will show the world
What they want to see

Today I will not
Wear a mask at all
I will show everyone
My straight downfall
Laid out naked
For the world to see
Turns out nobody
Even noticed me
