Cruel Mistress
Fate is a cruel mistress
She often leads us astray
She can be so dismissive
But in the end, she wins the day
She knows what's in store for us
And she always gets her way
She can be so confusing
What else can we say
We love you cruel mistress
Even when you don't love us back
You always have our best interests
So please cut us some slack
We know you like to play games
And you love to see us squirm
Not much left that remains
So don't let us burn
Fate is a fickle friend
A friend to whom I'm not
So don't let us pretend
This madness will never stop
We must fight for our happiness
She will not make it so

About this poem
Fate the Cruel Mistress is a fickle thing. She can be kind, and she can be cruel. But, more often than not, she's indifferent. She doesn't care whether you're happy or not. She doesn't care if you're successful or not. She doesn't care if you live or die. All she does is spin the wheel, and whatever comes up, that's what you get.
