Maine

Robert "Bob" Prahl 1942 (Bronx)

Maine
Everything I hoped it would be
Everything I expected to see
Omnipresent white birches
Among the maple and ash
Streams winding to the blue sea
The rocky coast and evergreen tree
Memories of Dick and Jane
And Spot, too
From my grammar school reader
With rows of Stately white houses
The scent of fallen leaves
The way life was
The way life should be
That’s Maine, you see!

About this poem

This poem expresses my impressions of Maine, having moved there in 2007 and lived there for five years. Maine is a gem and most anyone who has lived or visited there will have lingering memories of its charm and beauty.
