Heirs and Sons
As long as he is a child,
No different from a slave;
On their own would be wild,
Until they lie in their grave.
Although He is Lord of all,
Guardian and manager;
Because the fact they will fall,
From their sinful behavior.
Being children when we were,
Enslaved to worldly bondage;
Fearing not a vulgar slur,
Through the adolescent stage.
But comes the fullness of time,
The Father had sent His Son;
As ransom for our crime,
Iniquities we have done.
Given birth under the Law,
Adopted so we receive;
The means to erase the flaw,
If willing that we believe.
For you are sons and daughters,
By receiving adoption;
Through baptismal waters,
Under the Law redemption.
Being a daughter or son,
God sent His Holy Spirit;
Making your heart to be one,
Enabled to inherit.
Abba! Father! Is the cry,
Since no longer as a slave;
And the Lord will justify,
When He rescues from the grave.
