Original Sin

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Those who walk in arrogance and pride
Will die in their sin where they abide
Because they refuse to acknowledge the fact
That the blessing of God is what they lack

They can see they have power and wealth in this life
But they’re blind to the fact that their heart is filled with strife
They scratch and they claw to maintain their control
Though they gain the whole world they are losing their souls
